It's your Choice IIMC
March 1, 2o25
Fellow IIMC Members,
Thank you to all of you who have reached out to me during this campaign. I cannot begin to express how excited I am at the possibility of leading an association that means so much to all of us!
I’m confident that I am the leader needed to move IIMC Forward Together!
According to IIMC Policy, candidates and those acting on their behalf are not permitted to campaign after March 1. I will fully respect this rule because you cannot start anything good without ethics.

With my last campaign message, I first want to encourage you to vote. This is your association. You help set the future direction of IIMC by voting for the Vice President.
Once the Board sets the dates for voting, please take the time to cast your ballot. It is important.

Before you vote, be informed about what the candidates stand for. Ask yourself:

-
Which candidate believes in listening first, and doing second?
-
Which candidate offered values guiding everything they stand for?
-
Which candidate, from the very start of the campaign, offered you a compelling vision and clear goals for the future?
-
Which candidate understands that leadership is not just a philosophy, but that leadership is all about having priorities focused on vision and goals?
-
Which candidate is focused on values, vision and goals, not personalities?
-
Which candidate is best prepared to represent IIMC and all its members?

I believe I’m the answer to all these questions. My campaign has never been about me. It is all about you and the future of your IIMC.
I am running to be your Vice President to serve each of you by listening first and doing second.
I am running to be your Vice President because I value:

Empowering clerks
Uniting communities
Leadership you can count on
I’m running because I have a vision of IIMC being an association that is always moving Forward Together.
I’m running because I have six goals that will form a solid foundation for a member driven strategic action plan to make sure IIMC is successful for years to come. Six goals that are focused on you.
I believe that I am the person IIMC needs today. That I am the person best prepared to begin shaping the next 2o years by listening to you first. I have the passion and energy to do the job, and the new ideas to make it successful. I would be honored if you vote for me to be your next Vice President.
Building the Future of IIMC - Goals 4 to 6
February 20, 2025
Fellow IIMC Members,
Since the very start of the campaign I have been focused on values, vision and goals for IIMC. I’m running to be your Vice President, because I value
Empowering Clerks
Uniting Communities
Leadership you can count on
I believe in the vision of IIMC being an association that is always moving Forward Together. I believe there are six goals needed to turn this vision into reality. The vision and goals are where we start to build the IIMC of the future. The vision and goals start by listening to all members.
Forward Together means turning the six goals into a member driven strategic action plan to ensure IIMC’s success for many years.
Last week I told you why Goals 1 to 3 are important to the future. Today I want to tell you about Goals 4 to 6. Goals 1 to 4 are specific areas of focus to ensure long term success. Goals 5 and 6 are what we need to do to make these goals work.
Goal #4 - Renewing, adapting and growing education and professional development to meet the needs of all its Members in an ever changing world
Education and professional development are fundamental to IIMC’s mission. We highlight its importance on page 1 of the Constitution. The world is changing. Sometimes that change seems to be happening at the speed of light. Technology is big part of the change. IIMC’s education and professional development programs need to keep up with these changes to support all members.
IIMC needs to be a leader in renewing, adapting and growing its educational and professional development programs to meet the future needs of all members in all Regions. IIMC cannot be everything to everyone, but it can and should grow its education programs to serve the needs of all its members.
Goal #5 – Continue to build an inclusive association that celebrates and respects the diversity of its Members
Increased engagement and active participation are essential for future success. Continuing to build an inclusive association must be part of this. Inclusion is all about belonging. If members are IIMC’s strength they must feel like they belong. They must feel that IIMC values them. If members feel like they belong and are valued, they will be more engaged. They will be active participants in IIMC. That will ensure growth for the future.

Respecting diversity is important to inclusion. It is important precisely because we are not all the same. Our backgrounds and experiences have shaped each of us into unique individuals. We each have our own history, values, vision and goals. We live and work in different parts of the world. IIMC must find room to include all of these voices in shaping the future. The best decisions are made when there is space for a diverse number of voices to be heard.
This is not about creating a program. Its to ensure that IIMC has the tools to hear from all its members. When IIMC is actively listening to all members they will feel that they belong. Using diverse viewpoints will ensure that all members feel valued. That will ensure growth for the future.
Goal #6 - Using resources in a financially sustainable way, and directing those resources to achieve well defined strategic outcomes
To maintain IIMC’s current US tax exemption status, the bulk of the association’s revenue must come from membership fees. If membership numbers don’t grow, increasing costs must be paid for by increased membership dues. At the same time, our municipalities and local governments require us to justify every penny spent on memberships, professional development and conferences.
IIMC must carefully choose where it spends your membership fees. That does not mean cutting programs. It means using financial resources to ensure growth. To ensure growth in membership. To ensure growth in engagement and active participation.
IIMC needs to develop a member driven strategic action plan for growth and the future. Once we have the plan,
financial resources should be used to achieve that plan.
The Forward Together vision, and all six goals are about building the IIMC of the Future. This work starts and ends with you.
Building the Future of IIMC - Goals 1 to 3
February 12 2025
Fellow IIMC Members,
My campaign has been focused on my values, and my vision and goals for IIMC. I’m running to be your Vice President, because I value
Empowering Clerks
Uniting Communities
Leadership you can count on
My vision is to ensure that IIMC is an association that is always moving Forward Together!

My goals for IIMC are shaped by my values and vision. I believe my goals are important for the future of IIMC. So let me tell you more about my first three goals.
Goal #1 - Promoting the Clerk's profession, and the amazing work we do for our communities
I believe promoting our profession will encourage our municipalities to invest in our ongoing education and professional development. We know that education and professional development are an investment in the future. We also know that they are at the very core of IIMC’s mission.
Our municipalities need to know and believe in the importance of our profession. We need to tell our story: that Clerks are fundamental to good governance in our communities. By promoting our profession, we give them reasons to invest in us.
Goal #2 - Exploring new and exciting ways to engage the Clerks and local government leaders of the future
IIMC’s strength is and will always be its members. To sustain IIMC in the long term, we need to ensure that the Clerks and local government leaders of the future feel connected to IIMC now. If they feel connected now, I believe they will carry IIMC forward in the future.
How we engage these Clerks and local government leaders of the future, must start with them. We need to listen and understand what they want from the association first, not tell them what their association will be.
Goal #3 - Growing and enhancing IIMC international partnerships with respect
One of IIMC’s core strength is its international members and its global reach. But this strength can also be a challenge. When talking globally, even within one country, one size does not fit all. At the same time, IIMC cannot be everything for everyone. That is where international partnerships come in. To sustain our global reach in the long term we need to maintain and renew our international partnerships and seek out new ones. This must be done with respect for their uniqueness. Maintaining, renewing and growing our international membership and partnerships must start listening.
These are three broad goals that will ensure IIMC is successful in the long term. They are important for the future of IIMC. They all start with you. We can move Forward Together to turn these goals into an action plan for the future!
Over the next couple of weeks I will introduce you to my other goals for our Association!.

Vision
January 16, 2025
Fellow IIMC Members,
I am honoured to announce my candidacy to be your next IIMC Vice President!
I am running to be your Vice President
to serve each of you
by listening first
and doing second.
IIMC's success will always be its members past, present and future. A vision for the future of IIMC starts and ends with its members.
My vision is to ensure that IIMC is an association that is always moving Forward Together by:
Listening to its members, both old and new, near and far
Engaging its members in new and dynamic ways
Asking the tough questions needed to shape the future
Deciding to do what is right, even if it is not always easy or popular
The world is changing faster then we could have ever imagined. To continue to be relevant, IIMC needs to support its members to face these changes head-on. IIMC needs to Lead, not follow.
